WHAT IS DRUG RECOGNITION?
Drug Recognition is a technique which can be used to see when a person is under the influence of some drug. By watching a person who has observable signs and syptoms, it is easy to identify the type of drug that he or she may be under the influence of. These signs and symptoms manifest themselves in certain ways dependant upon the type of drug taken.
For the purposes of drug recognition all drugs will show signs and symptoms within seven distinct categories. These categories are, Cannabis, Opiates also known as Narcotic Analgesics, Central Nervous System Stimulants, Central Nervous System Depressants, Disassociative Anaesthetics, Hallucinogens and Inhalants. These are the categories which act upon the body's sytems in a particlular way, whether they be illicit drugs, prescribed drugs or over the counter (OTC) drugs.
